Catherine Mannheim trained as a jeweller at the Central School of Art and the Werkunstschule , Dusseldorf. She set up her first workshop in London in 1970 and now works from her present workshop in Clerkenwell. She was nominated a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths and the City of London .
Catherine has established a reputation for her collections of innovative jewellery. Her distinctive use of coloured golds combined with fine gemstones and beads placing her at the forefront of British jewellers. All pieces are handmade using traditional goldsmithing techniques. Gold is fused with platinum and overlaid with coloured golds. Some rings are cast and then hammered to texture them.
Catherines' jewellery is in the collections of the Crafts Council, the V & A, The Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths and the West Midlands Jewellery Collection.
