Claire Lowe studied Silversmithing, Jewellery and Allied Crafts at London Metropolitan University, graduating in 2005. Her work is concerned with form, texture and colour, and is very much about exploration and the combination of materials including metals and plastics. Colour is an important consideration and is usually in subtle neutral tones. Recurring themes are circles, domes and holes, seeing through the material to another layer, either of clothing, skin or surface. Claire's graduate collection combines metal, epoxy resin and tealeaves. Her new collection combines her use of jewellery and textile techniques. Contradictory textures and feelings are seen in the knitted/woolen range, putting soft surfaces and materials inside hard plastic and creating a visual texture without a sensory feeling.
