James McCallum is a wildlife artist living and working in North Norfolk. He is best known for his watercolour paintings and sketches of natural history, particularly birds, made outdoors from life at the time of watching.
Working outdoors in this manner has enabled him to develop a thorough knowledge of the behaviour and visual language of wildlife in its chosen surroundings.
The resulting pictures made rapidly whilst watching have an authenticity and energy difficult to reproduce in the studio.
Many of these paintings are reproduced in a series of James McCallum's books.
