Since leaving college in the early 70's where Jane studied silversmithing and jewellery. A short course with Gudde Skyrme over 37 years ago set Jane on her way to practising the ancient art of enamelling for which she is now renowned, bringing colour to her work.

Jane's inspiration comes from the simple silhouettes of traditional Japanese aesthetics often embellished with tiny, floral motifs. Ideas begin as drawings in her sketch books, where they can evolve unconstrained by the limitations of the process. Only when she arrives at a pleasing image does she begin to consider whether it is technically possible. While enamelling and silversmithing are rooted in traditional techniques, Jane also embraces more modern, industrial methods, such as photo etching, laser cutting, or the application of fine enamel transfers.

Jane's jewellery has been acquired by Museums and Art Galleries across the country including the Birmingham City Art Gallery, the Association of Contemporary Jewellery and The British Society of Enamellers. She has undertaken numerous commissions including a major project for the British Museum.
