Jeremy James is an accomplished sculptor and printmaker who has worked as a professional artist for over 35 years. His work is concerned with animals and people and, frequently, their interaction. His unique pieces involved extensive hand modelling of soft stoneware clay before high-firing.
Jeremy's limited edition linocut prints often feature scenes from North Norfolk, Cornwall and the Scottish Isles; much loved locations he visits to study and sketch the creatures that fascinate him.
Jeremy graduated from Exeter College of art & Design in 1986 with a 1st class honours degree in Fine Art and continued his training in Cardiff, resulting in a Master's degree in 1987. Jeremy's first workshop was in Suffolk, where he combined making and exhibiting with work as a visiting lecturer in numerous colleges.
In 1995 he relocated to Derbyshire to take up a new teaching post as Senior Lecturer to the B.A (Hons) 3D Design course at the University of Derby. He continues to divide his time between teaching and making and exhibits his distinctive work with numerous galleries nationally and internationally.
