Judy Scott creates paintings of a timeless nature; beautiful gouaches which capture the light and freshness of familiar places and people of her daily life - the corner of a room, things on a table, a windowsill, people in the garden or by the sea. Sometimes she tackles quite complex subjects but always the results are quiet, beautifully balanced, slowly revealing their qualities. The monotype prints are the imaginative, darker side of her work and are based on drawings made at theatre rehearsals - Shakespeare to Pantomime. With skillful handling of black and white monotype (a one-off print process) these ideas are translated into wicked and sparkling portraits of the performers. Here is the real live world of theatre!
